Computer Lab

If you would like to work on your computer skills, stop by our computer lab and check your email, send email messages, surf the internet, play games, etc.


Delaware Volunteer Legal Services

If you need assistance with more complex legal issues, Jacquelyn Chicona can help you.

DMAB

A program designed to assist you with any problems you may have with the complex and often confusing health insurance system.

Notary

If you need to have papers notarized contact Sandy, Vicki, or Beverly.

You must bring identification with you and sign the document in the presence of the notary.


Legal Aid

Michelle McLean of the Elder-law Program of Community Legal Aid is available to provide services to our center.

Available on the first Tuesday of the month.

Delaware Energy Assistance Program

The Delaware Energy Assistance Program provides assistance with the payment of energy bills for low-income households.

You will need to supply documents verifying your income if you wish to apply for participation in this program.

AARP Driver Safety Program

For information on when the next Beginner or Refresher Course will be offered, please see our calendar.

The cost of the course is $15.00 for A.A.R.P. members (you must present your membership card) and is $20.00 for non-members. Fee should be paid at sign-up.

Sign-ups are on a first come, first serve basis with the class being limited to 25 participants.


Please note that lunch is not included in the course fee.

Stand By Me 50+

This program provides information, resources, and support to increase the economic stability of Delawareans age 50 and older who are planing for, or are currently in, retirement.

Geri Huss from Stand By Me 50+ will be at the center on the third Thursday of each month from 9:00 am to 11:30 am in the Multi-Purpose Room.

Senior Legal Hotline

A resource for Delawareans who are age 60 and older where callers can receive free legal advice on a variety of issues. There are not income requirements for the hotline. The advice is provided by either a DVLS staff attorney or a volunteer attorney.


Hotline hours are 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday.

Senior Roll Call

Senior Roll Call is a program provided by the New Castle County Police. This telephone reassurance program calls senior citizens on a daily basis with a prerecorded safety message. The program is monitored to ensure the Senior Roll Call member answers the telephone and is okay. If there is no answer, the computer signals an alert. After calling alternate contacts, if your well-being cannot be confirmed, police may be dispatched.

Red Hats

Our "Red Hot Mamas" meet on the second Monday of each month at 10:30 am in the Community Room followed by a lunch at a local restaurant.

Caregiver's Support Group

Our caregiver's Support Group meets on the first Friday of each month at 1:00 pm in the Adult Day Care Center. If you know of anyone who would benefit from attending our support group meeting, please let us know. Be sure to tell them about our group. 

Dining Out Club

It's always fun to get together for a meal. This is a fundraiser for the center, so be sure to tell your family and friends. Thanks so much for your support!

 

The location changes each month so be sure to check the newsletter. If you need a ride, let us know. We can arrange carpooling.

Advisory Council

Transportation is provided to and from the center for members who qualify for Paratransit. The center pays $2 of your cost.

A Wizard of Oz themed gift basket.

The Weston Senior Center has gift certificates available throughout the year in whatever denomination you desire. They are redeemable for anything available at the center.

Health Activities

Walk, Walk, Walk

Countless studies have linked regular walking with heart-health benefits. Walking has been linked in men and women with lower risks of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and cardiac arrest. Even small amounts of walking each week have been shown to reduce these risks around 15% to 20%. So watch out in the halls! Our "walkers" are off and walking. 


Line Dance Class

Our dance instructor, Joanne Brady, is keeping us "moving and grooving."

You are guaranteed to get some great exercise while having lots of fun!

Join us Wednesday mornings from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Classes are $4.00 per person.

Moving to the Oldies

Come dance along to oldies music with our dance instructor, Joanne Brady!

Our low-impact, moving-to-music class is held on Thursday mornings from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Classes are $4.00 per person.

A Matter of Balance, Sponsored by Volunteer Delaware 50+

A nationally recognized program that helps participants address their fear of falling. The program is FREE and consists of two hour classes offered once a week for a total of eight weeks.
